As we all know Caldy will have it tough next season but yesterday performance by them, as was the case with Mac, and Sedge yesterday (sorry I do not enough about Rams playing strength) was that most of the Caldy main squad was missing for whatever reason, so you cannot make any real assessment from yesterday's games from any of the teams on show.

I do wish Caldy well next season, it's going to be very tough for them but yesterday was all about getting as many players possible a stage further to match fitness no more no less.

Have to say Mac put on a good tournament and a good day out.

All the best

I gathered sedge were missing a few with UC  scrums ...don't know to much about caldy though just going off what I saw yesterday...as I said I hope I'm wrong. Also best of luck and speedy recovery to jack Lavin from Caldy who was injured in training for Esher I gather.

Was as at The Rec yesterday to watch Redruth v Swansea. Played over three lots of thirty minutes on a lovely warm sunny afternoon. Really good quality match with Redruth running out 47-29 winners. Swansea rallied in the last ten minutes for a couple of tries.
I may live in Surrey, but my heart is in Cornwall.

Travelled to watch Blaydon in a half live training/match on Saturday at Northern RFC, coached by ex Blaydon captain Dave Guthrie. Whilst scores weren't officially kept Blaydon ran in around 10 scores. They looked sharp in the backs and a number of new players showed up well. A new generation begins!

Good run out for all 4 clubs at Macclesfield, although slightly worrying that Sedge had to play all 3 games with uncontested scrums due to a lack of props in he squad!!

FM

Not too much to worry about from our part, Sedge travelled over with a highly depleted squad not just in props but also second and back rows and none of our halfbacks (3 x  Scrum half's, 2 x fly Half's) available.

Some of the guys stepping into the breach did a fine job and we thank them all for their efforts.

Next week it steps up for boys again with our traditional pre-season fixture against Fylde at Park Lane, where we will have more of the squad back and a squad starting to look like the starting XV for the first game against Sheffield Tigers away.

Well that's the theoryWink

All the best

Worthing Raiders had two pre season games planned against Bracknell followed by Thurrock. Both games have been cancelled by the opposition... anyone want a game? LOL

Yorkshire Carnegie fans on the Championship page are concerned that they have no pre-season friendlies. There's your chance!!

You could say he was injured, broken neck and dislocated vertebra Ouch He apparently had a 5 hour operation and will be spending sometime in a neck brace but at least he appears to have full mobility. Very lucky, hopefully a full and speedy recovery.

At the moment Esher are asking this not to be widely distributed info while Jack comes to terms with the injury. That's why we haven't said anything publicly as yet.

I understand that this is a tragedy, but with today's social media I think Esher should be proactive and empathetic as news travels quickly on the "tinternet"!

Jack Lavin's family will not want tittle tattle or incorrect rumours spreading as this will cause just as much distress.

Sorry Halliford, but we are in a lose lose situation with modern technology.
