I watched Hertford v Bedford on Saturday, although it was a comfortable win for Hertford, Bedford never gave up, they are a young side and I wish them well for the rest of the season.
Not one of us predicted the Guildford win against Wimbledon, unfortunately Guildfordblue didnt do his/her predictions this week, are there any other Guildford supporters on here who didn't back their own side?
Many congratulations this week to Thames Estuary Man and Shamrose, top scoring this week with 22 points.

Well well well, I really didn't see G's doing one over Wimbledon. This league is just providing great entertainment week after week and I love it. Wells were well worth their win over Tring and the sounds of it, a couple of red cards over in Essex had some big impacts on the games.

Onto this week, I'll be partaking in some lower quality rugby and heading off to HQ to watch the supposed England B team take on some Boks.

Bedford Athletic 0-v-5 Tunbridge Wells - Wells have seemingly turned a corner after their disappointing start. Bedford do score points at home (and turned over CUUUUPPP) but I feel the plastic will suit the Royal men.

Brentwood 4-v-1 Guildford - A toughie as neither of these teams have impressed me "that much" when I have seen them but both have pulled off some good results. Gs strength is at home so I'm going for a bit of a dour home win.

Chingford 1-v-5 Sidcup - Going for a CUUUPP win but could be anything. Sidcup remind me of the French and that favourite cliche "which Sidcup will turn up".

CS Stags 1863 1-v-5 Hertford - A few weeks ago, it would have been a home win here but I think Hertford have found their feet and new players settled. I'm going for them to out muscle the Civil Service.

Sutton & Epsom 1-v-5 Westcliff - Westcliff march on. Winning is a habit and it seems they know how to get results. What happens when you build a squad over a few seasons that play genuinely as a team. S&E starting to struggle IMO.

Tring 5-v-0 Shelford - Tring will want to make the most of their home advantage and bounce back from last week. Shelford so close to their first win as well but I feel they missed their chance and will suffer against Tring.

Wimbledon 5-v-2 Dorking - Again, a few weeks ago...this was a dead cert for the Wombledons but perhaps not so much now. I'm going a home win but the Dorking "amateurs" fighting all the way.

Bedford 0 - 5 Tunbridge Wells
Brentwood 0 - 5 Guildford
Chingford 0 - 4 Sidcup
Civil Service 0 - 5 Hertford
Tring 5 - 0 Shelford
Wimbledon 5 - 0 Dorking

My predictions have been way off so far, sign of an exciting league. Guildford didn’t impress me but perhaps I caught them on a bad day so I give them 5 this week. I haven’t seen Chingford yet and could Home advantage help? It’s the result I’m least certain of but then I’m often wrong this year so I wait to see the surprise results on Saturday evening

Well well well, no one saw that coming did they...

Bedford 1 - 5 Tunbridge Wells - Wells to build on last weekends good win.
Brentwood 0-5 Guildford - See above.
Chingford 0-5 Sidcup - Sidcup pack to win this one for their bang average back line.
Civil Service 1-4 Hertford - Hertford seem to have settled
Sutton & Epsom 0-5 Westcliff -  Westcliff to march on - S&E looking over their shoulder.
Tring 5 - 0 Shelford - Which Tring side will turn up?
Wimbledon 5 - 0 Dorking - Dorking to feel the back lash. (Sorry)

A great win for Dorking on Saturday and now having a good look at top 3!

Brentwood -v- Guildford 4-2 tight encounter but Guildford's despicable arrogance and whooping to be undone this week!
Chingford -v- Sidcup 1-5 Are Sidcup finding their groove?
CS Stags 1863 -v- Hertford 0-5 Hertford of old returning and heard CS had a few injuries against the strong Sidcup boys.
Sutton & Epsom -v- Westcliff 5-2 a high scoring home upset here I feel from my close Surrey rivals
Tring -v- Shelford 5-0 Wish there was a midseason relegation to stop Shelford's bleeding
Wimbledon -v- Dorking 2-4 Game of the day with the men in red and white sneaking a close battle by max 3 points.

Bedford Athletic -v- Tunbridge Wells 0-5 TW have had their wobble and will be looking for a top 3 finish if not promotion.
Brentwood -v- Guildford 4-1 Neither side has impressed me and both teams are mid-table sides.
Chingford -v- Sidcup 0-5 Cup are probably one of the best sides in the league and now their back line has come to life I expect them to be hard to beat anytime soon.
CS Stags 1863 -v- Hertford 1-4 CS Stags work hard but another side without the ability to scrum. Hertford cheque book seems to be working again!
Sutton & Epsom -v- Westcliff 0-5 S&E need to get the cheque book out as most of their pack need replacing. If not then I can see S&E bottom of the pile with Chingford, Bedford and Shelford.
Tring -v- Shelford 5-0 One way traffic and probably a 50 pointer plus.
Wimbledon -v- Dorking 1-4 The Dons have been beaten twice and having watched Guildford & CS Stags this season they are clearly not throwing the gold card at getting promoted back to Nat 2.

Bedford Athletic 0v5 Tunbridge Wells Wells to walk this one
Brentwood 4v1 Guildford Brentwood to play the home pitch well
Chingford 0v5 Sidcup The might cup keep the winning run.
CS Stags 1863 1v4 Hertford Hertford but just
Sutton & Epsom 0v5 Westcliff cliff to push on and keep the top spot
Tring 5v0 Shelford No way back for shelford
Wimbledon 5v0 Dorking Dons to come back in style!

Thanks to Fatty1973 for managing all this.....

Bedford Athletic -v- Tunbridge Wells 0-5 TW too strong for a game Bedford
Brentwood -v- Guildford 4-1 Close game edged by home team
Chingford -v- Sidcup - 1-4 Sidcup seem stronger than results suggest
CS Stags 1863 -v- Hertford 1-4 Close game edged by away team
Sutton & Epsom -v- Westcliff 0-5 Heart says S&E but I fear for them against a strong Westcliff team
Tring -v- Shelford 5-0 Shelford seem to be getting better but not enough to trouble Tring at home
Wimbledon -v- Dorking 4-1 Close game but Ws to win

What was wrong with calling it London 1?

Bedford Athletic -v- Tunbridge Wells 1-4 a close call
Brentwood -v- Guildford 4-1 gone for home favours
Chingford -v- Sidcup 1-5 cup to boss it?
CS Stags 1863 -v- Hertford 4-1 could go either way in a tight affair
Sutton & Epsom -v- Westcliff 1-4 see above
Tring -v- Shelford 5-0 cant see it any other way. Shel always better after xmas
Wimbledon -v- Dorking 4-0 Dons to squeeze life out of the Coqs

Bedford Athletic -v- Tunbridge Wells   0-5   BA going the same way as Shelford.
Brentwood -v- Guildford                 5-2  Fancy Brentwood to do a number here.
Chingford -v- Sidcup                      1-4  Chingford starting to struggle a bit?
CS Stags 1863 -v- Hertford             0-5  Hertford to get over their away day problems and keep motoring up the table.
Sutton & Epsom -v- Westcliff           1-5  Westcliff up and away....who on here thought we would ever be saying that!
Tring -v- Shelford                            5-0  Even concentrated negative mental power aimed at Tring wont mean anything but a stuffing for Shelford.
Wimbledon -v- Dorking                    5-2  Is Wimbledon full of Saffers? Is Dorking? Will they head to HQ instead of Plough Lane?

Bedford 1 - 4 Tunbridge Wells - Athletic buoyed by recent improvement but Wells still too good
Brentwood 0-5 Guildford - Guildford look to be getting better and better
Chingford 0-4 Sidcup - Sidcup pack to dominate of boggy Chingford pitch
Civil Service 0-4 Hertford - Stags look inconsistent, won't win but may hold Hertford to a low score
Sutton & Epsom 0-5 Westcliff - Westcliff shaping up well, and too much for Sutton even at home
Tring 5 - 0 Shelford - cricket score
Wimbledon 5 - 0 Dorking - Dons to bounce back at home

A much improved performance from Cup at the weekend in an open and entertaining match at a frigid Crescent Farm. Was very impressed at the stamina of the Stag alacadoo contingent, sampling some of our finest hops long into the evening.

Bedford 1 - 5 Tunbridge Wells - RTW to start hitting their straps, although their 2nd XV took a bit of a pasting at Sidcup at the weekend, would be concerned for them if they pick up injuries
Brentwood 1-4 Guildford - Think Brentwood will roll up their sleeves and make it incredibly close, but the result for Guildford last week makes me edge just towards them.
Chingford 0-5 Sidcup - Hopefully we can stop our yo-yoing performances and be a bit more consistent
Civil Service 0-5 Hertford - Hertford to power their way to a good away win
Sutton & Epsom 1-4 Westcliff - Westcliff to continue to impress
Tring 5 - 0 Shelford - Cant see their being any joy for the PeaHuckleberrys this week
Wimbledon 5 - 1 Dorking - Dorking to face a bit of a backlash?

The league feels wide open - exciting times.

FYI. The Hertford team on Saturday contained one player who was not with us last season and he is a 19 year old  walk up who who was playing 3 leagues below. .....We're really going to miss the family silver!

The turnaround might have something to do with realising that the excellent players who moved on to higher things means we have had to make some changes to the game plan. This has happened and results are improving.

Must go now, I have to bring the young lads Mclaren F1 to the clubhouse entrance as he's finished training.  Clown

Fantastic! The only player in the team that wasn't at pre-season training was Mike Allen. This is his 7th or 8th season playing at Hertford.
It is interesting to see how other clubs view each other.

GuildfordBlue, yes you would still be in 3rd as Dorking in 4th have 25 points. I’m not sure if the emoji is clapping Guildford being in 3rd or what?

Anyway, can you confirm that the RFU website is incorrect and Guildford have 26 points and not 27?

I’ve predicted well the last couple of weeks but this week seems much tougher to me !
Most of my favoured teams are away from home.
I’ve gone for Wimbledon at home but I like Dorking who I think could well be promoted this season and it would be no surprise to me if Dorking win this.
I feel for Shelford who have another tough weekend ahead.

Bedford 0 - 5 Tunbridge Wells
Brentwood 0 - 5 Guildford
Chingford 0 - 5 Sidcup
Civil Service 0 - 5 Hertford
Sutton & Epsom 0 - 5 Westcliff
Tring 5 - 0 Shelford
Wimbledon 5 - 0 Dorking

Bedford 0-5 T Wells Tunbridge W now on a good run and will take a good team to stop that.
Brentwood 1-4 Guildford Forward battle with Guildford having the more experience to win a tight affair.
Chingford 4-1 Sidcup Chingford tough to beat at the swamp, Sidcup heavy artillery equally matched.
CS Rugby 1-4 Hertford CS will not lie down here, close encounter.
Sutton&Epsom 0-5 Westcliff S&E to be in bottom 3 come Xmas, not enough depth for National 3.
Tring 5-0 Shelford Cricket score?
Wimbledon 1-4 Dorking Have the wheels fallen off?

Bedford Athletic -v- Tunbridge Wells - 0v5 - Wells finding form
Brentwood -v- Guildford 4v0 struggling to understand how G's beat the dons, won't like the ski slope
Chingford -v- Sidcup 0v5 forwards to dominate, who needs backs!!
CS Stags 1863 -v- Hertford 4v0 like the CS team, very active, can see why they beat the dons
Sutton & Epsom -v- Westcliff 0v5  the home grown team to control the game
Tring -v- Shelford 5v0 no contest
Wimbledon -v- Dorking 4v0 great battle upfront

Bedford Athletic 0 v 5 Tunbridge Wells. RTW back to full strength and impressive
Brentwood 4 v 1 Guildford. Not seen either team yet so gone for home advantage.
Chingford  4 v 1 Sidcup. If Chingford can match Sidcup up front they'll nick this one.
CS Stags 1863  5 v 1 Hertford. Hertford on a roll, but i think the Stags are a better team than some of their results suggest.
Sutton & Epsom 1 v 5 Westcliff. Westcliff looking solid and good for the win, but fancy Sutton to nick a bonus point.
Tring 5 v 0 Shelford. Sorry Shelford, only one result here.
Wimbledon 4 v 1 Dorking. Wimbledon not coasting it like i expected and Dorking can be awkward to break down.

GuildfordBlue, interesting response. Unfortunately you aren’t helping the reputation Guildford have.

I am sure you are well aware that you have one less point than shown. I’m just surprised it hasn’t been corrected in the last month....unless the published scores are incorrect. Perhaps someone more helpful can confirm?

I'm afraid that I am not quite sure what reputation we have.  No one that has visited us this year have had any complaints aimed towards our players / staff / supporters behaviour / attitude etc. etc. Perhaps you could share more light on this matter rather than stirring the pot with that wonderful spoon of yours.

Maybe there have been less complaints this year which is a good step and long may it continue.

BEDFORD ATHLETIC 4-1 Tunbridge Wells- Would be a good well deserved result.
BRENTWOOD 5-1 Guildford- Wood have the nous and skills to take this in their stride but close.
Chingford 2-2 Sidcup- Ching are a good side and with home advantage can push re-vitalised Cup all the way. Such a difficult prediction is a draw, but could see it happen here. Too close to call.
CS STAGS 1863 5-1 Hertford- Stags to win the rut and take the prize. They did it away at Wimbledon..
Sutton & Epsom 0-5 WESTCLIFF- My promotion selection of last year to fulfill the dream this season,  and keep the impetus going.
TRING 5-0 Shelford- Little hope for poor Shelford this season. Can Cambridge cast offs salvage the day?
Wimbledon 2-5 DORKING- MOTD. Must call my team as I believe this will be very close. With two defeats for Dons so far, they are clearly not the team of 2 seasons ago. They remain good but very beatable.

Another set of difficult games to call. Has anyone had a FULL HOUSE so far this season? Always 2/3 predictions that spoil the fun. I have been very bold this week but why not. Good Luck to All.

Chingford -v- Sidcup                      1-4 Cash still chinking at home here too but Cup had a good win so going with the  team from Kent.
CS Stags 1863 -v- Hertford            1-4 Hertford to bully the inconsistent office boys.
Sutton & Epsom -v- Westcliff          0-5  Westcliff are the form side.
Tring -v- Shelford                           5-0 Only result.
Wimbledon -v- Dorking                   4-0 Wimbledon smarting but unlikely to have it all their own way.

Can't complain about the result on Saturday, Westcliff closed out the game well. Should be a good game this week, Guildford have had some decent results but if we play anywhere near our potential we can do well this season.

Bedford Athletic 1 v 4 Tunbridge Wells - Wells seem to be on a good run
Brentwood 5 v 0 Guildford - Should be a good game, I'm backing us to do well at home
Chingford 2 v 2 Sidcup - Two of my favourite teams
CS Stags 1863 4 v 1 Hertford - I rate CS, they've had some close losses to good teams this season
Sutton & Epsom 0 v 5 Westcliff - Westcliff could do well this season
Tring 5 v 0 Shelford - Shelford need to turn things round quickly, they have the backs to do it
Wimbledon 5 v 1 Dorking - Could be close but going for home advantage

Bedford 0 v 5 Tunbridge Wells Bedford woes to continue
Brentwood 5 v 0 Guildford If they play the slope well as Guildford may suffer altitude sickness due to their league position
Chingford 0 v 4 Sidcup -  Not one for the back
CS Stags 0 v 5 Hertford - Hertford greater stronger CS the reverse
Sutton & Epsom 0 v 5 Westcliff - Westcliffe to continue S&E might struggle come the end of the season
Tring 5 v 0 Shelford - Could be a lot closer
Wimbledon 4 v 1 Dorking - Could be close but going for home advantage

Unfortunately one season does not make a reputation, it has taken many seasons!!

Many season of?

GuildfordBlue, simple answer is a bad reputation.

Maybe there have been less complaints this year which is a good step and long may it continue.

I know of no complaints.

Perhaps it’s just sour grapes on your part? I’m sure you’ll get over it.

Perhaps you’re not the person people complain to GuildfordBlue. Anyway, it clearly isn’t something that you are bothered by as you really aren’t helping.

Good luck for this week against Brentwood whether you are playing, in a blazer or following from home. I’ve predicted a Guildford win this week. Very impressed with the result last week. I thought Wimbledon would be hard to topple until the sun comes out again in March/April.

I watched Chingford v Sidcup today and unfortunately Chingford are going straight back down. Scored a great try in the first ten minutes, but they cannot scrumage and it became a bit embarrassing. Sidcup could have put a lot more points on them but Chingford slowed the clock down as much as they could and eventually the scrums went uncontested in total sense of the word!

Have heard from players that Chingford ony train once a week. True or terrible falsehood?

Really doesn’t matter they are going straight back down. The game against Sidcup become a joke and like I said was embarrassing for Chingford. Very few sides will out muscle Sidcup.

Chingford do indeed only train once a week on a Wednesday. They tried in vain to change this last season during a players vote which went favourably against. A lot of the lads deem it a social club on and off the pitch. Come rainy season many teams will stutter against them I am sure of that.

All very quiet on here since Saturday!!
TW came second to BA
Guildford getting used to the lofty heights?
S&E turn over Westcliff.

Nothing to talk about there at all  Tongue

Went to an interesting game at CS...once I found the place. Can see why CS have caused some upsets this season, lots of quick feet in broken play. Credit to Hertford though, turning 17-0 into 17-26 was impressive and only let CS get close when they knew it wouldn't change anything.

CS are too good to go back down on this form, both looked like mid-table safety candidates to me.

Carlos,

Hard to spark any real debate on here with a few sensitive souls floating around.

Very interesting result at BA, I for one didn't see it coming and I dont think many others predicted it... A fair trek from RTW to BA, and there was a lot of trouble with the Dartford Tunnel, I wonder if the travel had any influence?

Would love to hear from any Westcliff fans, or S&E for that matter...

As for our game, thats some slope on the Brentwood pitch isn't it...

Quite indeed...!!

Went along to watch the Dons / Dorking game...although game wasn't spectacular (I give both teams the benefit of doubt by saying that the wind was awful to play against) and the score line seems to suggest as much. 19-5 to Dork at half time and 24-0 to the Dons in 2nd half.

I believe Dons are missing 5 of the starting backline players.....but game was won up front with a superior forward effort.

Sadly, is seems that there were a few "old farts" supporting the visitors, who for some reason or another, were very vocal and constantly screaming at the ref....to what end I ask...I thought that was only found in football!!??

Very disappointing....

Sounds from the S&E v Westcliff match report that Westcliff 19-5 up had the wind second half but didn't take advantage. S&E kept the ball in hand second half into the wind backed up robust defence.

Although a former S&E player I had this as a Westcliff win so very pleased despite losing the prediction points !!!

Brentwood v Guildford Saturday....a great game to watch and the slope is more of a factor when it's windy as well. Guildford played well for the first 15 minutes, Brentwood for 20 and Gs nicked a nice try at the end of the half.

Brentwood had the best of the second half until maybe 8 minutes to go, silly penalties gave them territory and they slowly moved up the pitch with 14 players. Not sure the penalty try was the right call but the ref called it so we move on to the next game with Wimbledon.

A mixed bag from Gs backline which I've heard good things about. Fantastic in the first 15 mins on the front foot but in defence throughout the game they were very disorganised. Second half they did nothing of any note, the forwards won them the game.

The uncontested scrums nullified our dominance in the scrum late on (the first time in the match tbh) and after every break in the game there were Gs players scattered around the pitch. I think they're grateful for the week off.

But all that aside G's deserved the win in the end, against the run of play they managed to wrestle the advantage away from us and close it out but it definitely was another game we could and maybe should have won.

I have to say, I do agree with what you have said here in the most part, apart from your disagreement with the penalty try.

When you give away 5 or 6 or possibly even 7 penalties within 10m of your own try line, two of these penalties being collapsing the maul as it was on the way towards the line, a penalty try will be inevitable. Brentwood had already had a yellow card within the series of penalties, so quite frankly, the referee is left with no choice but to award a penalty try.

The previous infringements were nowhere near the try line, 1 was a clean steal from us which he gave to you and the ball carrier for the pen try broke off the maul (and ran into his own player) but we all have our own interpretations.

You survived a blatant yellow earlier on in the half in the shadow of your posts following a number of pens. First similar infringement 5 minutes from the end for our prop gets us a yellow, didn't mean much as we had to go to uncontested scrums.  Anything else you want to dispute?

Again, I do dispute your interpretation of the penatly try, as a series of penalties by your own sticks does evolve in to a penatly try.

Just a big shame that Brentwood’s inability to put the game to bed when SO on top, and a man to the good, is the referee’s fault.

And its a shame that you believe going down to 14, and uncontested scrums, was a game plan. You, as everyone is aware, that with 3 substitutes, it is bound to happen, with 1 player going off with a split face requiring stitches, and the other with a knee injury.

Time to move on.

You're right about the consequence of a number of penalties, I can see why the ref gave it. I just have a different view of the actual infringement, that's all. I originally said that we accept it and move on, doesn't mean I have to agree.

I never stated that going to uncontested scrums was a gameplan, just unfortunate for us that's all. I'm not sure when I said that to be honest. Also not putting the game to bed was our fault, not the referee's. Again, I'm not sure how you think that's what I was saying. I said that G deserved it as they came back strongly when I thought they were out on their feet.

We certainly had teams turn up with that game plan....in fact my total disdain for CS stems from them being the first team I saw do that a few years ago. I seem to recall East Grinstead doing it back in the day too.

here's a question: what is the motivational thought behind a coach shouting 'bananaing snowflakes' at his players? Couldn't believe my ears. Smile

I remember both of those games, I don't know what the code shout for 'take a knee' is, but it was used alot in both games.
In contrast, I remember the Portsmouth team getting totally shoved off of every scrum, every maul and set piece and still won by a point with the last kick of the game, from beyond the touchline it seemed.
