This Saturday...

In Level 4:

Leicester Lions will be safe unless they lose and Luctonians don't.
Hull will be down if they lose and Luctonians don't.
Bees could be down if they lose and other results don't go their way.

Lydney will be down unless they get three more points on Saturday than Southend, or five more than Clifton.

In Level 5:

The winner of Sale v Sandal will be champions of National 3 North. In the case of a draw, Sandal win the title unless Sale score four tries and they don't.

Whoever misses out will be at home in the playoffs to the winner of Hinckley v Peterborough Lions (Hinckley if a draw).

Barnes need three more points than Bury St Edmunds on Saturday to win National 3 London & SE. However, if they get no points and London Irish Wild Geese get five, Irish will take the playoff place. Home advantage in the playoff will probably be Exmouth's, unless they lose.

In Level 6:

Ilkley will win the North 1 East title unless Sheffield get three more points than them on Saturday. Whoever misses out will probably be away to Kirkby Lonsdale in the playoffs.

Saturday's matches in Midlands 1 will have no impact - both champions are decided, and Old Northamptonians will be at home to Worcester Wanderers in the playoffs in two weeks.

Chippenham will win South West 1 East unless they suffer the most spectacular defeat and Towcestrians win by a blowout as well. The runners-up (cough, Towcestrians) will be at home to Ivybridge in the playoffs.

The winner of Eton Manor v Colchester will come up as champion of London 1 North - Colchester take the title if it's a draw.

Whoever misses out will be at home in the playoff - any of Wimbledon, Chobham and Sutton & Epsom can take the title or playoff place in London 1 South.

Argh, I spotted that when writing the preview for next weekend - thought I'd got away with a quick ninja edit but not so.

why 3 more points than southend or 5 more than Clifton I would have said a bonus point win on Saturday and collect the 4 points the Saturday after.?

Currently:

Clifton 55 pts, 10 wins
Southend 53 pts, 12 wins
Lydney 46 pts, 9 wins

If Lydney only manage 2 points more than Southend, they'll be 5 points behind them with one round left, with no way of matching their total wins, so can't catch them.

If Lydney only manage 4 more points than Clifton, they'll be 5 points behind them with one round left and level on wins, but over 100 points worse on points difference. Technically I should have said "4 points more", I suppose.

So counting on my fingers and assuming I can read straight

Level 4

In the North, Leicester Lions are now safe. Still a four way fight for relegation
If Luctonians get a point at Leicester Lions Bees will be relegated whatever their result.
Hull must beat Preston Grasshoppers to stay up
If Luctonians win, Hull need a 5-0 victory which would see Preston relegated.
If Luctonians lose, a 5 point win for Hull is enough and any will will do unless Luctonians get both bonus points.
If Luctonians fail to get a point  and Hull lose Bees can escape if they get five points.

In the South Lydney hang on, but Southend just need a point at Redruth whatever the result at Shelford.

Level 5

Sale beat Sandal - so are promoted.
Sandal host Hinkley who beat Peterborough Lions.

Barnes lost but picked up the losing bonus so travel to Exmouth

Going down
CS Rugby, Annersham and Chiltern, and Tring
Chard, Oxford Harlequins, and Weston-Super-Mare
Beverley, Westoe and Morley
Dudley K, Burton and Bourneville

Level 6

Ilkey and Birkenhead Park are promoted
Sheffield travel to Kirby Lonsdale in the play off

Newport and Syston are promoted in the Midlands
Old Northamptonians play Worcester Warriors

Colchester and Wimbledon top the London tables
Eton Manor host Chobham

Chippenham and Cleve take he titles in the South West
Towcestrians host Ivybridge

Congratulations to all the promoted teams.
Best of luck to those on the play-offs - or still in contention
Commiserations to those relegated.

But next year is another season, anything can happen.

Looks about right sir!...

We(Sandbach)are waiting to see the results of the Hincks/Sandal Playoff and the final N2N relegation positions in order to understand whether we will be refugees again ;-)

Hi Charlie

What's the get out of jail card ?

Do you know or what needs to happen for tigers to get moved to Midlands ? Also if it was Tigers to move and Sheffield club came up who would move ? Us or them ?

As far as I can see if Hull and Stockport come down that's sandal and sales places and the 3 relegation places are self explanatory so no need for a move ?

If sandbach are Cheshire would they not come up into our league then who would move ? Tigers ?

Just trying to work out if we will need to move.

At the end of the day ........ rugby was the winner !

Hi Charlie

What's the get out of jail card ?

Sorry, that was a brainfart on my part - Lymm have a get-out-of-jail card on the grounds that they've just come back from Level Transfer so aren't obliged to go straight back.

Lots of questions there - I'll try and answer them in one go.

There's currently a surplus of North Division clubs in Level 5, so Sandbach are on Level Transfer in National 3 Midlands.  They're not going to "come up into our league" as they're already in a parallel league.

If Hull avoid the drop and Sandal beat Hinckley, we're back to 14, and Sandbach get to come back as taniwha alluded to above.

If Hull stay up and Sandal lose, or Hull come down and Sandal win, we stay at 15, and Sandbach, being closest to the Midlands, will almost certainly spend another year away.

If Hull come down and Sandal lose, we will have 16 North Division clubs in Level 5 next season.  After Sandbach, Lymm are probably next on the list, but have the option to stay put, as mentioned above.  Next in the firing line would probably be Stockport or Tigers, depending on total mileage.  I haven't had a chance to even think about doing the calculations though.

This is the "Get Out Of Jail Free Card" I mentioned earlier:

13.2.11 (f) At the conclusion of the procedure described in 13.2.11(e) above, if
a club subject of a Level Transfer in the previous season(s) is
returned to a league consistent with its Constituent Body or
Divisional affiliation other than on promotion or relegation, that
club shall be entitled to remain in that League for two seasons
provided it is not promoted or relegated at the end of the first
season unless it volunteers for a Level Transfer.

I suspect the 'bach will be happy to stay in the Midlands if only for ease of travelling. Being on the M6, it's a damn site easier to get to most of the Midlands clubs rather than trekking across the Pennines.

I was disturbed by your "The Brain Fart", but of course you corrected yourself. There is no limit to the number of seasons that you can be level transferred. Although once back "home" you can insist on staying there for one extra season.

There was quite a bit of debate about where we would prefer to go next season with the coaches/management wanting to go one way and the players wanting to go the other. In the end we have volunteered to remain in the Midlands again, but whether we end up there is out of our control now.

We could apparently have applied for Sandbach to be moved permanently to the Midlands and despite the attraction of getting away from NAG ;-) (Northern Action Group) we felt such a move would be WAY to confusing.
