Cornish Pirates Directors  have purchased Truro City Football Club. Dicky Evans stated it will be managed as a separate company and will share the Stadium4Cornwall facility. Good news for Cornish Sport.

Sensible news, how is the stadium construction going?

When is it due to open?

Is it on schedule or way behind like Tottenham's ground?

Still waiting for construction to start - the last piece in the jigsaw is £3m of government/Sport England funding which is taking longer than we hoped (doesn't everything?). We're told build should start in May.

I signed up quite some time ago for a mailing list around a Pirates crowdfunding campaign. Is there any substantive news around that? I was hoping it would be for something like "donate £200, get your name on a brick" or similar.

Work is completed on drilling soil samples for foundations and was successful. www.stadium4cornwall.blogspot.com  gives regular updates on progress.

I read through the blog there does not appear to be any construction in progress. It does state that further landscaping design is taking place.

It also mentions crowd funding to build a new squad !.

We will be launching the crowdfunding campaign soon in order to raise working capital to transform the squad into a leading championship side and to build new training facilities.

Reading between the lines it appears that the funding as hit problems . Hopefully this can be resolved and the purchase of the Truro football club by Cornish Pirates can reignite the construction phase.

For reasons I can’t define, I have a bad feeling about this.

I don't know, Ealing's new 1250(ish) seat stand went up in about a month. I was amazed. Also disappointed that they took out the thousand temporary seats - those could have been filled for the Championship cup match (or the Rugby League games, but I try to forget those exist).

Construction cannot start until you receive the couple of million pounds from the government though, can it. Unless the stakeholders have been told that the money is about to be given, and seeing how government is seized up by Brexit, I cannot for the life of me see this happening during Spring at all.

S4C need to make it clear to people that until the government decide whether or not to give you funding, you do not have money in place for the build. Equally, Cornwall Council's funding of the project is only going ahead if the government coughs up too. Don't get me wrong, I am seriously pro stadium and have been for many years, watching endless hours of the Cornwall Council debates - but the fact remains the money is not in place yet and the government have not even said if they will give S4C anything as yet.

Having seen artists impressions, s4C appears to be rather more than a stand alone stand. I am therefore basing my response on memories of how long construction took at the BPA.

Initially S4C will consist of the large seated stand and when appropriate, the remaining three sides will be constructed. Exeter Chiefs took a similar approach with Sandy Park. The large seated stand will also include facilities for Truro College, so it will take longer than Ealing's structure to go up.

Yes but the stadium for Cornwall will be a bit more than just some scaffolding.

I'd be interested in seeing that No.7 (or preferably a few shots of it). Can't find anything online, which seems odd. Always like to see new ground developments.
