It's a simplistic answer but there are two MAJOR reasons why the company is in the brown stuff ....

1) Struck a deal with PRL which is to LONG AND FOR FAR TO MUCH MONEY!

2) Decided to re develop a stand that was only built less than 20 years peviously, a pure vanity project that we're told will be paid off within 7 years, the fact it's gone over budget by £32 million, PROVES it won't be paid for inside 7 years

3) Allowed a CEO who it appears had little understanding of striking commercial deals with 3rd party organistions within the sporting world, in fact, it was such a bad deal for PRL that they offered him a job .... go figure that one out!

Then having spent his whole tenure at the RFU defending promotion/relegation and saying it was sacrosant, now is peddling EXACTLY THE OPPOSITE argument, if you want a measure of the man who was our CEO for 8 years, you have it in a nutshell ................

Perhaps one of the three points raised is not deemed Major? Or as significant as the two others.....

Well, points 1 & 3 are the same thing, so it's two points ....

I'd go and get lessons in grammar but to busy having to earn more money to increase my sponsorship

At our AGM last night, we were advised we have to find an extra £8000 next season, thanks RFU ... must be great to be rewarded for being s**t at your job.

Ian Ritchie ... "Del Boy in an Armani suit"

Castle Park Knight, look forward to seeing you when we play you in a pre season friendly ....

Really, RFU funding dropped by around £4650 for Level 4 clubs when you included extra payments for the officials.  Was Level 3 so much more?

How much do the Premiership pay for referees.
Is that specified in the agreement.
If not could the RFU increase the charge as they have elsewhere.

On the Cheshire Website there is a information document about Good Governance which has the following information:
"Governance has become an increasingly important issue that rugby union clubs have to address. This is due to examples of compliance requirements (legal & insurance), poor management, financial failure, and to maximize the opportunity of public funding resulting in a need for better sports administrative structures.

Guidance and information on good club governance for your club is readily available at www.englandrugby.com/governance and includes health checks, guides, and templates.

A good starting point is to complete the RFU Good Club Governance Health Check.

Click on the link below for access to the latest Club Management guide

ClubManagementReferenceGuide_English August 2018"

It is a pity the RFU have not read their own instrustions to clubs!!

Workerbee,

the patronising and elitist attitude of an incompetent RFU is breathtaking. I understand that businesses do get into difficulty and I often have some sympathy but not when they have previously lectured all their member clubs on matters which they have never practised themselves and pay scant regard to.

The RFU deserve to be in the position they are in

It is getting worse, the shirt sponsor for England's 7s team has gone into administration - reportedly RFU will lose £1 million of payments

The FTR's are paid between £45k - £90k and I think there are 9 now, along with 4 x trainee FTR's (who I think are on £25k) .....

PRL pay 50% of the costs ....

I'm not involved on the finance side (apart from paying my sponsorship! ) ... those were the figures quoted
