Pirates missed the Exeter DR players who played yesterday in Anglo Welsh Cup. Titans deserved win against  an off form Pirates side.

I predicted this in the above poll. Pirates have a history of losing to the bottom teams which has been going on for years. I remember going to Waterloo and Manchester many years ago - they were both bottom and winless, but duly beat us. We lost at Moseley when they were bottom and Richmond home and away last season when they were bottom. Yesterday we were without 5/6 influential players and duly conceded three early tries. We managed to get our noses in front only to make a series of avoidable errors in the last couple of minutes to enable Roth to snatch it. Roth are a proud lot and Pirates always find it tough at Clifton Lane. Well played to them.
I'm afraid the end of the season is looking pretty bleak for us, thank goodness we've got that buffer of points between us and the bottom.

If you look back to the second or third post, you'll notice I also predicted this result. Pirates are all too predictable as you say, often painful to watch. They seem to go into this self-destruct mode when playing these lesser sides. I hope we get our act together soon otherwise our diminishing attendances will only continue to diminish. It's such a pity because Pirates have always played exciting and fast rugby, and have always played extremely competitively against top four sides.

Hopefully we can win this B&I game and inject a bit of confidence into the squad (and hopefully we don't give them a 14 point head start!!)

It would be good to get the win in the cup game against Hartpury, but our "reward" would be an away game at Ealing!

I say that the Titans should have won by more than 3 pts. We scored 3 excellent Converted Backs try's, in the first half, through strong running and quick Sharp passing. The Pirates kicked a Penalty, followed by a a very good try by the Left Winger taking a clean catch, in space, from a cross-field kick.   The Titans deservedly went in at half-time 21 - 10 up.
We thought, more of this in the second-Half, and we should have a good Win, with a try bonus. BUT, we Gifted Pirates 2 try's, by reverting to type, and Flapping at tackles.
This spurred the Piates on, and the game became a close, hard fought battle.
Our 10 kicked a Penalty to tie the score at 24 - 24. He then had to leave the field.
In the 5th min of extra time, Pirates conceded a Penalty out near the touch line. Our Full- Back stepped up to take his first kick of the game. Against the wind, he converted it.
The shed erupted, for a moment what was happening this season, was forgotten, it was like the good old days. We might be brought back down to earth away to Richmond, but that will not take away what we all felt on 27 January 2018.
I don't like reading what was posted above, "We were without 5/6 influential players".
That's a poor excuse. We have 6 players out injured, plus a Prop whose signed for Edinburgh and our top second-row on Loan at Wasps. It happens at all clubs, we have to live with that, and just get on with it.
In the last two B+I games, our Coach decided to give run-outs to players who haven't had much game time. They certainly took the opportunity to impress, and won both games. Our Coach decided to keep the same squad for the Pirates game. His Faith was rewarded.
We will be relegated at the end of the season, but I'm convinced that we will go down fighting. What more can I ask of my team, other than to hope that most of them stay for next season.

Winger 14 - I wasn't trying to use the fact that Pirates had a few players missing as an excuse, just to explain why I predicted that Roth would win that game. Roth had also won two games in the B and I cup, so were more confident, Pirates had lost three in a row and seem to have gone backwards in the last few weeks.  I accept that Roth fully deserved their win, and was actually expecting that to happen. Good luck for the rest of the season.

well now we know the answer to the question! it was Pirates who were the victims on Saturday!. mind you I think Roth will win a few more games before the season is out. 20 points adrift at the bottom they are but Mond away and Bedford at home are their next two games. if they win both of those it could maybe get a little interesting.... particularly as I've looked at Scottish's remaining games in particular, they're tough!!. it would be an absolute miracle if Roth escaped the drop but it is still possible?!.

Another team needs to have a reall bad run. There are only six points between 6th and 11th. Mondโ€™s position is a bit misleading because they have got Bristol and Ealing out of the way so in theory are due a few wins. Anything can happen but the odds are that Roth have too much to do. However the fat lady has not sung yet.

Roth will be pretty buoyant going to Mond, and that could be close. I was very impressed with Bedford on TV against Bris, so it would be a massive upset if Roth turned them over.

Pappashanga

Believe me, the Fat Lady has sung, if fact my Wife has been singing for most of the season.

I hope to God that she doesn't read this, the Lass has been on a diet for the last 12 yrs, it may not be working to well, but she gets 10 out of 10 for perseverance.
The upshot of this is, we don't have the central heating on, even in mid winter, I just snuggle up to her and I'm as warm has toast.
In fact she's so big now, that even the neighbours come round to snuggle up to her, to save on their Gas/Electric bills.
Of course being a true Yorkshireman I'm happy with this, as I make a few quid out of them by selling them Drinks and Snacks.

If we are in Nat One next season, the Wife says she will sign for the Club as the Whole Front Five. That should save the Club a fortune, as all she wants as payment is, 1 Black Forest Gateau, 1 Victoria Sponge and 12 Cream Scones each week.
In anticipation, the Club has asked our local Outward Bound Shop, how much it would cost to convert a 10 man tent into a Shirt and a pair of Shorts.

I'm really looking forward to the rest of the season, and if the Wife doesn't read this, I should live long enough to see it out.

With no RFU monies, would you go for Sara Lee to sponsor her?

Thanks that's a great idea.   We've already signed up Pickfords as a Sponsor, they'll be transporting her to games and then back home.   Only problem is, we have to give the Police 4 days advance warning as to where the game is being played, so they can put out a Wide Load warning.
