just had a little look at the rugby lions supporters forum and i noticed there has been alot of movements goin on :
2 x coaches -glackin and steve
players ; matt goode, lewis barker, matt price, tom major ,tom williams, chris humprey and i think 2 more but there names have escaped me,

also

there website has been down for a long time too .while there club dinner was cancelled the other night due to not emough numbers,

what is goin on there?are they struggling ? you expect some to leave due to various reasons but they havent even got any plans for pre-season while a coach has not been annouced either will they put a side out for the for coming league.

is it another club with money problems if so once again open your eyes RFU.

There were similar rumours last close season and some players left but a whole raft of new young players arrived who gave the supporters an extremely entertaining season.

More pronounced problem this season with senior players leaving as you say.

More pronounced especially because so many clubs within reach in a position to offer more money and/or more full-on rugby club support structure and ethos - Coventry in Nat 1 has an attraction of course, which is where one coach and 2 or 3 players have already gone, and Leicester Lions, Kenilworth, Nuneaton, Ampthill etc all looking at players who were especially in the shop window filling most of the places in the Warwickshire side.

Another couple have left to go to uni.

There have been continuing background problems of a club mangement kind though the team spirit was at its best last season.

We'll wait and see.

think your looking at nearer 7 lions players leaving for cov or at least training, with the main reason being the players being fed up with the man in charge at rugby

Has there been a change of ownership at Rugby as well during the summer?

They are actively looking for a coach but are having to cast their net very wide in order to lure someone in. All local candidates seem to have given the club a wide berth as not prepared to work with exisiting management. Would that be Mal Malik? I thought he was a Rugby Lions legend and widely respected??

1. There is no doubt that Lions are experiencing a traumatic close season with a loss of so many players which was rumoured to be happening last year but has happened now, exacerbated by the need for Coventry to create a new squad for whom Lions players could be viable options following the relegation, and the leaving of the two coaches, initially one to Cov.

2. It is unclear if a squad will be assembled for this season; we can only wait and see. The first pre-season game is scheduled for next Saturday.

3.  A new club website has been apparently on its way for months but seems to be taking a very long time.

4. The supporters site has not thrived for some years following the untimely deaths of the two main contributors.

5. The supporters forum had been deserted by many supporters because of the persistent critical postings by a trio of people not involved in the club though they may previously have been.

6. If this is a season of real problems on the pitch then that will be better than Rugby disappearing as a club and if relegation follows, Lions know from past experience that the league below, now called National 3 Midlands, is a very worthwhile league to play in.

7. No comment on individuals connected to the club seems appropriate to me so I will not say anything else.

from the previous posting it looks like at lot of players have gone.......however they have not all gone to cov like everyone is suggesting, yes a small pool of players have ventured over to cov, which looks like there home town for many of them, but the rest of the players have left to go to many other clubs......... My feeling is that if the powers at be had sorted this earlier then the club would not be in this state.....

Rumours are that players have left because of the lack of managment and that one coach was pushed out.......which is amazing from the talent and structure that seemed to be in place last year. I spoke to one coach last year who has left and there seemed a real buzz around the place......What a shame, the quaetion is why?

With respect, not what 'everyone' is suggesting if you look what I wrote; but not yet clear what the final number moving to Cov is, or how many will stay there.

Have they actually started pre-season training then or is the club just fallen totally apart? If that was the case then surely the NCA and the RFU would have to be informed?

Players to coventry
Price - home town club
Pateman - home town club
Weaver - home town club
Gregson - home town club
Nash - Training - home town club
Harris - Training

Training at Lions has started but being run by players, limited numbers and due to play Broadstreet next week....Not looking good really and i guess no side will be raised for next weeks game Ouch I was hoping to watch this year as well as it was at times outstanding last year

I understand (but you did say 'everyone') and when it comes to wanting to watch this season given last year's performances, we both had the same hopes.

yes maybe but not directed, Just that I hear the crisis at the club (plus hinted at in the paper by the chairman) that coventry are to blame!!, which in my view is not the case......think we all know who is to blame here, as comes from the players its self. What ever the outcome lets hope all is going to be well.....but what a real shame from where the squad was last year to the present...... there must be reasons for this, entire squad has virtually gone
