If the Russian team is only Champ standard, but they can be allowed to play the best teams in the world, then how can that argument hold water?

Two of the Russian squad play in the Premiership for Sale Sharks.

Nice thought TB. Jersey did indeed narrowly lose the first three games of last season but having seen all those matches including the one at GR I thought they played reasonably well and might have got more out of them. IMO their poor run of form was at the end of the season - particularly after the game at Nottingham. A good start would certainly bode well for this season but I still see Falcons as clear favourites because of their outstanding pack followed by Trailfinders with Pirates and Blues leading the chasing pack. A good season for Jersey in my book would mean:
  • Avoiding relegation
  • Winning the cup
  • Beating Falcons home and away
  • Beating Guernsey in the Siam
Interesting that no one has commented that Jersey scored 5 tries on Tuesday all of them by the backs unless you count the scrum half as a forward.
Dont kick it. Pick it up and GO FORWARD.

Superb win for Jersey, I watched most of the game. As always your pack looks impressive and Luc Jones has definitely added to your options.

As for Newcastle having an outstanding pack I would beg to differ, they have 3 excellent props and 4 excellent hookers but I dont think the rest are that impressive.

I really think that ET, Jersey and CP all have a genuine chance of upsetting the applecart . . . best of luck
Run with it

True. But neither island plays as a club side in any English cricket league/structure in the same way as Gsy Raiders/Jsy Reds do in rugby...

Guernsey played in level 2 of the Sussex League a few seasons ago - playing against the other ten sides away only on Sundays/Bank Holidays.

Actually Guernsey did for a few seasons in the Sussex League as Guernsey Sarnians.

On a separate comment, a great win for Jersey.

Cricketers always love a Sarnie.
