An awful cold kept me out of the bar at Vallis Way on Saturday but I enjoyed watching the match with an old JUBRFC mate and we both remarked how Dean Richards seemed to go through periods of the match where he seemed to unreasonably favour one side or the other. At one point I remarked that he may be trying to balance the penalty stats between the two teams. He certainly didn't affect the result however as Ealing were easily the best team on the day and I was pleased they got the four try bonus which will hopefully keep the league alive as a competition. Given the injury problems there was still lots for Jersey to take as positive from the match. The error level is still high but the forwards were competitive against an Ealing pack which had dismantled Bristol and the Midfield defence was exceptional. Tom Pincus is a special talent - that restart take in the second half should go on both club's websites. Good to meet Aaron's folks again hopefully I can eventually share a beer with No7 at St Peter. The welcome at Vallis Way is always top drawer and given the quality of rugby they serve up they surely deserve bigger crowds- the little BBQ at the entrance to the clubhouse is exceptional quality and value. To make the last flight I had to leave straight after the match just before 5pm but bus, tubes & trains got me to Gatwick by 6.20pm - a pb from Vallis Way.

Dont kick it. Pick it up and GO FORWARD.

whilst the scrum went one way only I have to question "dismantling" being applied to a pack that was superior in every other aspect of the game
this is why events unnerve me

Was down at Hartpury this weekend:
Firstly - very nice facilities, decent (ish) beer and lager, nice people as well (or the ones I spoke to were)
Secondly - the right team won, they had the desire and that is what counted in the final moments when they scored to take the lead. Well done to them.
Thirdly - their scrumhalf was a little firecracker, in my opinion he is destined for greater things and was the player that made the difference on the day.

As for Donny - if we don't resolve our handling errors, and soon, we will find ourselves dropping down the table. I do feel that we are missing some of the players who are on the injury list and hope that they make a speedy recovery too.

Well done Hartpury though.
Onward and Upwards C'mon Donny!

[/QUOTE] I'm happy to accept the correction elegia in that I've only seen the match a couple of times on TV and its never the same as when you watch it at the ground. Its a few weeks until Jersey welcome Briz to St Peter and I'm hopeful that they might have a few casualties back off the injury list by then or they will be wholly relying on competitive forwards and a midfield defence and I very much doubt if that will be enough to hold the Briz all stars. Lending Jersey Nick Haining and perhaps young Sheedy for the visit might produce a better game. I hope Briz supporters will enjoy the trip anyway. All the best CC

will be the first game back after the break for B&I games when the fringe players get a run out, so hopefully both teams will be at full strength.  been very impressed with Mr Haining & pretty sure he's in Pat's mind when selecting his first team, but there have been so many changes it's hard to second guess him this early on in the season

we've been lucky at jersey in the past & you're due a win against us there, hoping it doesn't come this year!
