Just been informed Newton Abbot game off???? Can't be the weather surely? Something else? ..hotel booked for tonight and some supporters down there already.... four games they've had postponed, three home games... do they have a drainage problem with their first team pitch?

According to the NABS FB A/C, it rained overnight and there is standing water on the pitch which makes it unplayable. Suspect with more rain forecast for this morning they're worried about Newbury getting down there and then having to call it off.

Ah well... must have been heavier than I thought.. so much for Newton Abbot being on the edge of The English Riviera... (nothing up this way overnight...)

Newbury have a bit of a problem with drainage on their first team pitch which has resulted in two games being played up on the top pitches. Not ideal as it's away from the bar so club takings will be down and it's away from the grandstand so viewing for the older supporters is poor and uncomfortable if it's cold and wet as there's no cover. I assume NAB don't have a playable seconds pitch?

It's getting to the sticky end of the season with fitting games in and player availability

From memory the NABS pitch is sticky at the best of times, their second pitch is not good at all. As a matter of interest Dobber, do you know if you're Stags are playing on the 1st team pitch today? I'm coming up to watch the Errant Son play for the Rams III's
Enjoying life!

No idea tbh... suspect it will be top pitch with us having the two important home games left. Although we haven't had rain for a couple of days and the first team pitch hasn't been played on since beginning of Feb (by the 1st XV anyway) the club seems to be overly cautious about it getting cut up

Exmouth v Dings is on after a applauded effort by the Exmouth ground staff working tirelessly to get the game on but if all fails they have offered an alternative pitch at a local college but well done Exmouth

If they're to be serious contenders for the playoff and get promotion they'll have to sort their pitch drainage problem out then over the summer as teams and supporters will be travelling further than Newbury.

Head to Brixham to watch their game. Would have thought it will be a corker, albeit on a very sticky pitch!

And the results are;

Brixham 18 - 31 Bournemouth
Exmouth 24 - 17 Dings Crusaders
Hornets 13 - 36 Weston-super-Mare
Ivybridge 25 - 28 Camborne
Lydney 29 - 36 Cleve
Maidenhead 12 - 34 Bracknell

and Newton Abbott v Newbury postponed..

We therefore bide farewell to Hornets who join Lydney in going down. The 3rd spot is still very much up for grabs and could involve any team all the way up to Cleve in 5th place. The playoff space is still undecided but recent Maids results and the outcome of next Saturdays match between Bournemouth and Newton Abbott should decide it...

Sorry for my tardiness the away weekend at Sandbach did take its toll and the drive home across the undulating Peak district didn't help..
Well, well, well, silly season has started with no one picking 10th placed Bracknell at 3rd placed Maids, and banker Dings failing at 9th placed Exmouth. Top scorers this week Sidelined & Spiko 123 with 4 from 6 Clap Clap, and conversely Fat Bear, Maidsboy and Red Pete all getting Easter eggs a week late LOL, with Nil from 6  which is a novelty as throughout the 2 seasons I've been compiling scores I haven't had any nils from predictors who've predicted. The implications of these scores are that Sidelined has gone into equal 1st place with Chipping Man, who has been sitting at the top of the pile for the last few weeks and Spiko 123 snapping at their heels a point behind.
So with 16 fixtures to go the league looks like this.

Chipping Man 107
Sidelined 107
Spiko123 106
Simba 103
Red Pete 102
Trftrf 02
Town 101
BrixPhil 100
Maidsboy  99
NeilSKN 99
Front Jumper 98
Roman Relic 96
Braders 1875 95
Seaside Mafia 93
Jester 10 93
Fat Bear 90
Blub 87
SurreyBen 87
Big Mac 81
