I have raised a ticket for the spam issues that we are experiencing. Looking at the code I can see and just quickly scanning it, I dont see why it is an issue.

So have raised and will report back when found and a resolution brought about.

Apologies for the problems

Well, things should be better now. The problem for at least some of the spam rejecting has been found. Words with the famous boots u-gg (withoug the dash) somewhere in them were being rejected rather than the just the famous boots. So suggest was being rejected. Hopefully it no longer is....

Thanks to Teddy for the help and pointing it out

Thanks.  That may well have been my problem last week.
That's easy for you to say.

As I have said in the past when referring to the fruit filter, I don't see why the pattern is matching "badword", not " badword ". Assuming this is how you have changed the implementation, can this be applied to the fruit filter as well?

Frankly, I'd just get rid of the fruit filter which seems to frustrate genuine users wanting to express themselves in the bar room terms that we all hear and use every week rather than limit those who might get some strange kick out of just spelling them out for the hell of it.

There again, I'm also a big fan of Steve Hughes' view on the nonsense of legislating what is offensive and what is not so ...

.... if I ever call for inky to be, amongst other things, banished, I suggest that you just ignore me cos he's not yet managed to break any of my bones!

This software isnt mine, it was bought by a board member I believe so I dont have much control of anything in the coding front. So the implementation I dont think has changed, maybe it did from full words to regular expressions and I missed that. If I did, apologies.

However, now I know that it uses "regular expressions" rather than word matching, we can control more over the words. However the "fruit filter" came with these words that we modify as standard and setup as such so although Richard altered the bad words to fruit, the searching of the word was standard.

The bottom line is I can fix the fruit filter to be improved. I "get" BeeBumbles point however a) bad language can incense and therefore escalate a discussion and b) put some people off joining.

Bar room talk is done in a bar room, with people you know well (generally).

Trust me there are more complaints about bad language than anything else!

The fruit filter generally works well but off course there will be the occassional slip. I'd rather put up with this than a board of abuse!

That's the point...they don't because of the fruit filter which is in place for the reason I previously stated.

So, ffs is not likely to cause complaintShocked?  How about fmswawe - £10 to a charity of their choice for the first to get (an inoffensive translation) of) this into printWink!

Sorry, Richard, it's a slow, slow day everywhere but if you want it, the last word is, as ever and with my full support, yoursClap!

The bananaing problem is, that most of the cranberry posters who post here bloody often have learned to decode the crap fruit filter, and, like the Huckleberrys we are, try to pawpaw all over the sodding thing.  This can result in some pissing awful posts, but any Kiwifruit worth his weight in hazelnut biscuits would be foolish not to give it a try.

Hmm, Richard, surprised that "crap", "piss", "sodding" and "bloody" aren't in the dictionary.

Consider the testing service free, gratis and for nothing.
