I saw that on Twitter Barum Man, was it a surprise to you guys, or on the cards?

It was a surprise Jester although seeing as the Exmouth post had become vacant the week before I guess it makes complete sense for him.  I believe Steve works in Exeter and presumably lives up around there - travel time to training sessions especially will be much shorter for him.
It will be interesting to see who Barum appoint as the new head coach - I just hope that they do not lose many players as a result of the relegation (our top points scorer and influential no 9 has already left us).

I understand that Gaz Evans has gone back to Okehampton, where he was player-coach until last season and that Rob Duggard has joined him.
JP will be a big loss as he has developed into a very effective and consistent player at L4. Where has he gone BM?
I think some new coaching input was due at Barum. Has anyone been appointed yet?

Another big loss for Barum is Danny Southworth who has gone to  Exeter Chiefs TJOS. JP is going to Taunton I believe. Yes Gaz and Rob D have gone to Okehampton
Barum have appointed Bryn Jenkins as the head coach with Jake Murphy as backs coach (as well as playing) - really looking forward to Jake's input.
Just waiting for some new signings as we are short in several key positions.

I see Camborne have signed Alex Ducker, that's a fair drop in levels seeing he was playing for Hartbury in the Championship this past season (although went back to Redruth mid season). I was very impressed with him when I saw him play for Redruth against Barum in N2S.

Yes, I saw that 'town', its a great signing for you for sure.
It is strange to drop from level 2 to level 5 in such a short period of time though. Maybe he has given up on making it big and returned to his home club or it could be just down to all the extra travelling that the higher level entails. Either way he will be a real handful in the SWP for sure.

Alex Ducker has had more clubs that Tiger Woods!
I may live in Surrey, but my heart is in Cornwall.

I think your probably right! Unfortunately its very hard for players to make a living at L2. Rugby careers can be short and you need something to fall back on. He could have reached a point where he felt that level was his peak, with little chance of going higher up the ranks. And needed to focus on his future career whilst still playing a good standard of rugby.

Great signing for NAB, and big loss for Brixham.

Barum have lost some players and I have not heard of any new signings yet - I think it may well be a re-grouping season with several local youngsters building on their experiences of last season in level 4.

BM, have any of your players followed your coach to Exmouth? Nothing on the signings front from them yet either.

Not that I know of MaidsBoy, One to Taunton, One to Newton Abbot and two to Okehampton that I know of. Not sure about Jarrad Hayler (top player) but think he may have been posted away from the local Marine base.

Yes, I saw one had gone to Newton Abbott. Does anyone know if Matt Jess will still be playing for them next year? Or will he be there purely as a coach? If the former, then they look set to have a very impressive back line.
