Various gripes I have seen on here in no particular order.

Misuse of TAXPAYERS MONEY
Using  DR`s from Leicester Tigers
Inadequate bar facilities  ( No Speckled Hen in Early winter plumage on tap )
Bar too far away !
No hard standing or cover for the Old fogeys
Just not a proper rugby club !.
Several players unavailable due to playing for their Country !
Supporters being over vocal and Huckleberryly Pear  ( oh dear Huckleberryly Pear students at a Rugby match ,whatever next !.
Lack of home supporters .
Playing National One rugby for free ,no charge, playing for the love of the game how dare they .

LOL or Cry

Well said No 7.

Based on my visit to Caldy vs Fylde this season, here are some (tongue in cheek) reasons why real rugby clubs like Caldy should be booted out the league. In no particular order: -

1) Crap car parking availability. Had to park by a wall amongst the brambles (not even any berries to pick)
2) Minimum hard standing (grassy slopes)
3) No cover to hide from the sun streaming into my eyes
4) No beer pump clip so I couldn’t tell which real ale I was drinking
5) Cramped toilets in a wooden shack that thinks it is a clubhouse
6) Too many people enjoying themselves watch rugby.
7) Got puffed out scaling the slopes from pitch level to the wooden shack (sorry clubhouse).
8) Failure to field any DRs

Sorry Big Eddie and Caldy supporters. I love you really.

I look forward to finding another excuse to visit the wooden shack on the hill to remind myself how crap a real rugby club is. Doubt if it will be in 2018 - 2019 though. Might go to Tynedale instead 😉

Enjoy your rugby whoever you support, life is too short not to! 😊😊😊

We appreciate your valid criticisms Purplehaze and we will do our utmost to ensure they stay valid for as long as we are able. Your list wasn't complete though and I thought I would add a few more before others do.

9) Disgraceful MOM boat race at the end of each game which is anathema to finely tuned athletes
10) Noisy players all enjoying more than a few beers late into the evening and often spilling beer on the carpet
11) All the players and supporters knowing each others names and the names of most of their family members
12) All the ground staff being between retirement age and up to late 80s and putting in an unseemly effort for a bunch of geriatrics
13) Everyone at Caldy having too much fun to ever be taken seriously by the RFU

I suppose I should address Caldy's shameful record of not fielding any DRs and thus not supporting the RFUs fine initiative of encouraging clubs to cut across team spirit and their own development plans to play up to 10 strangers each week from the Professional clubs. I hope that Caldy's shocking record in this regard isn't going to put them on the RFU's naughty step.

In mitigation Caldy did pay some lip service to Nigel Melville's strategy ......prior to the start of the season Tight head prop Elliot Millar-Mills was dual registered by Caldy to Yorkshire Carnegie before he transferred on to Edinburgh........Millar-Mills only played for Caldy in the pre season warm up games

Doncaster Knight's Lloyd Hayes is completing his rehab after serious injury by turning out for Caldy until the end of the season to play with his brother ......

Probably all shameful in the RFU's eyes

Full Back, my mantra is “Enjoy your rugby!” and I will whatever league LS play in.

However, the fat lady, or for political correctness “overweight person” (don’t want another black mark against LS if someone associates my comments with them and sees this as another reason to evict us) has not yet not yet sung so who knows LS might still be playing in NL1 next season.

If we are relegated “Que sera sera”, pawpaw happens. We will enjoy playing in the mud baths of NL2N and standing in muddy fields as spectators. True grass roots rugby.

Regarding, Caldy, I will return and thoroughly enjoy the experience again with or without LS.

all kept the little wooden shack rocking late into the evening and we still have Blackheath and Bishop Stortford to come. I must say that I am really looking forward to the visit of both sides:

Blackheath because someone once mentioned to me that apparently (and just get this !) they really are the very first original rugby club in the whole world and they go by the nickname of 'Club'........(you learn something new every day)

Bishop Stortford because they have a possee of young and attractive ladies who have promised to come up to Caldy as long as I organise a VIP box for them.........consider it done!

We always enjoy a beer whilst watching the game - unfortunately we couldn't find anywhere to get one at LS (nor any home support to ask). Finding the toilets was a mission.

Sounds like Caldy is what rugby is about, volunteers, beer, enjoyment - what is there not to like.

So what if they haven't got a state of the art clubhouse - long may they prosper

Unless you have built one recently, standing in a muddy field is as good as it gets at LS, so you should fit in well

PurpleHaze, there is a legendary Merseyside bogeyman called Purple Aki. I suspect you are not related to him because you seem to be a decent fellow. As long as you are not susceptible to night terrors it is worth googling Purple Aki

My personal mantra has always been 'Happy is as good as it Gets' and I think it unlikely that I will be contradicted if I say everyone at Caldy is Happy.

Surely important that if you are good enough, fit enough and are selected then they should have the chance to play both BUCS and NL1? Surely nobody would begrudge LS players that opportunity?

While I understand what you're saying and agree that the players should have the opportunity to play in the highest level of club rugby that they can, surely there are enough clubs in and around the area at the *right* levels to be able to offer that without LS having a Saturday league side themselves?  It certainly worked for other LS students in the (now) dim and distant past who played international rugby, let alone club rugby.

Raider999, I don’t know when you last visited LS and I am sorry if you couldn’t find beer or toilets but I am sure one of the students or officials in high vis jackets would have been delighted to direct you to the nearest facilities. I have heard / seen others ask, the natives are friendly if you talk to them.

If you have not been in recent seasons their is a hard standing around all sides of the pitch from which to spectate and also the match and post-match bars and toilets are all clearly signposted in very large garish banners.

Whilst there are undoubtedly better grounds to spectate at, LS is not the worst I have encountered at NL2N. I have also seen reports that facilities at some NL1 rugby clubs are not brilliant e.g. distance to clubhouse, standing in a field. There is also one Championship rugby club I could mention but won’t where the facilities are somewhat basic.

LS might not a fantastic rugby experience but the organisation and facilities have improved in recent years. Give credit where credit is due BUT it could be a lot better.

Talking Flag, totally agree there are other clubs in the area BUT let’s also not forget that LSRUFC is primarily made up of students at the university. For them the option of training around their studies must be an attractive option let alone the all weather, gym, S&C, physio facilities they have access to IF they pay their rugby club and gym membership fees.

BE I can't speak for the quality of the ladies from Bishop Stortford, but I can guarantee the "Blazered supporters (and the man with the drum) will probably stay and drink copiously they are a good lot and you will enjoy the banter with them, we certainly did last weekend at DMP.

Whilst there is some good humour in this discussion concerning the run in I am struggling to understand why everyone is completely focussing on OAs, the Students and Hull Ionians to be the only teams to join Fylde for the drop.

There are only 4 or 5 games to go and with those at the top end of the table maybe not now as intense as they may have been if Coventry had not won the league so early there is a decent chance that any team up to and including Moseley could be dragged into one of the bottom 3 places.

OAs can get a maximum of 63 points from where they are now
Luff can get a maximum of 72 points from where they are now
Hull Is can get a maximum of 75 points from where they are now

I am not saying the above is likely but I think there is a decent shout for all these teams to put in a great run to the end of the season and non of these sides play each other so they all could do it.

If you haven't got 73 points already you are still in the mix!
