The problem with the academy system and EQP's in my book are not the young guys (rising 18)who come to senior clubs possibly for the first time in their lives and learn about  rugby and life in general. I am aware of some great success stories and real allegiance to those clubs subsequently. They may not even be good enough to get into the club first team so they have to step up and earn respect. They are great for the clubs and its good for them.
However the guys that are being parachuted in for the odd game here and there are a waste of space to the clubs and themselves. DOR's must (and do) tear their hair out at the concept of players being pulled on Friday or being told they have to play and in what position etc.

How you deal with the latter and the late developers I don't know but by default they seem to end up plying their trade in the Championship. Perhaps the answer is to have some lower age restriction below that. who knows?

To be honest I would not be interested if my own club went down the DR route. I just cannot see the point of it........it devalues club rugby completely

Yes Cambridge do use DR players from Northampton - but they in turn steal our best players from the youth set up.
Wasps and Saracens tend to wait until after they make their 1st team debut.

Sad to say it appears Loughborough Students could go down. They look to have their weakest squad since gaining promotion to Nat 2 North some 10 years ago. I hope I'm wrong

That and the fact that their coaching structure has changed.

Coventry are my tip at the moment, however it's a long season and all teams suffer with injuries, but Plymouth, Blackheath and Ampthill will be in the mix.
Too early imo to say who will be in the relegation mix.

I had Plymouth as nailed-on favourites pre-season. Nothing so far this season has changed my opinion.

I saw them lose at Blackheath. A very good side but not invincible. Their games with Coventry will be crucial and could well decide the title winner

Cov are looking far from convincing at times too though, and have 'got out of jail' already. With injuries piling up (forwards Brown, Boulton, Poole, Jubb, and backs Trimble, Grove, White, Knox, Fenner all 'first-choice' players) who knows how long they can keep it up. They actually look quite vulnerable for tomorrow's trip to Fylde TBF.

Big match on the 25 November.

Am hoping a few of the injuries have cleared up by then, but several are long-term, and at least a couple will not come back this year.
