Note: someone has put the entire broadcast onto youtube. Easy to find if you search for Ealing Trailfinders.

I would guess there was a very large LI contingent - to sustain playing in a higher league I think Ealing would need circa 5k home support, and then numbers swell for the derby matches of which there would be quite a few.

Either way I was pleased for Ealing to get that win - pity they couldn't squeeze LI more in the league though.
My guess would be about half were Ealing supporters. This is based off of crowd noise, and that we got about 1600 last year against Leicester A, who brought no fans due to the Champions Cup final being the same day.

I spoke to the guy who runs the gate and he gave me the figure quoted in the Rugby Paper 2800.

Ealing do not give the actual true count. Other clubs count every man woman and child. EALING Trailfinders only count at the gate it seems. Disregarding the attendees at the pre match lunch and the various sponsors and their guests.

A attendance of 3627 must be a record for Ealing Trailfinders.
Ambition should be made of sterner stuff.

3627 is the number announced by Ealing just now. It may seem silly to fixate on the crowd size, but the attendances are a stick that the ringfencing crew beat Ealing with constantly.

Back in nineteen hundred and frozen to death, when I was a member of Her Majesty’s largest constabulary, I was trained as a ‘crowd counter’. Simple techniques were used to estimate crowd numbers with often remarkably accurate results. To cut a very long story short, I guesstimated the crowd to be around the 3200 mark.
Speak softly, but carry a big stick.

TRP listed the Ealing attendance at 2800. Definitely low. All of the stands were 95%+ full. That's 1200 for the new stand, 650 for the Damian Bugeja, and 450 for the grandstand (including the new seats in front). That is 2300 seated alone. Given the addituonal temporary bleachers, and the throngs encircling the pitch, 3500 would seem an absolute minimum to me. Anyone else who was there disagree?

Say it all but hats off to two really good teams - great contest and the best squad eventually won. That lad playing 8 for Ealing is a proper player.

Our 8 is Rayn Smid. A real iron man, played almost every minute this year.

So can we cut to the quick and rather than spend hours getting bored and arguing about this allegedly waste of space competition agree the next final is between Trail Finders  and Falcons

Great game. Great atmosphere. Packed stands. Rubbish weather. Now a long, long wait for meaningful rugby.
