The week before has been pencilled in with e pre-season match, so unlikely, I'd have thought?

Thought that was the first proper game, with 'cup' games preceding it?
Just what I'd heard. Maybe wrong. Often am. You're much nearer the club than I am Wink

Cov started back this week, and have already had a couple of days jolly team-bonding up in the lakes.

Some teams - Ealing & Pirates have already started back with Scottish expected back on 11th June. Surely there must be a reason for starting back so soon?. Wouldn't make sense for there to be a 10 week pre-season if the first competitive game was late September.

Until 14th June has passed, we will probably not get a formal answer. However t is looking very likely that the first three weeks of September will be the initial Championship Cup group rounds, with he Championship itself starting on the fourth weekend.

On bBadly supported clubs

If the Championship were expanded next  season it would likely be from Richmond, Rosslyn Park, Blackheath, Plymouth or Rotherham. All reaonably well supported by National 1 standards, but a bit London centric.

Until last week I would have included OEs - but as they shared a sponsor with England 7s they may not be as competitive - dependig on whether or no they have banked the cheque.

I've always suspected this (re a combined Prem and Champ Cup), what is your source?

Personally I think this would be good at boosting the profile of the Championship as it gets national coverage and has a tv deal.

But as PRL have refused this it is not going to happen - the protectionism of that cartel is unbelievable. It would have been an opportunity for their A league players to have a run out, and to spy on potential Championship recruits. I would love to see this competition come to fruition but alas I suspect nevergoing to happen.

yes - very interested in the source. My understanding was that the RFU bigwigs were in Leeds dealing with that.

C'mon Nick. DidI have to add 'and expand the Championship by four teams'?
If that causes badly-supported clubs problems, so be it ;)

22 November 2003, when England won the Rugby World Cup in Sydney, I remember very well that Coventry played Bedford in tier 2.
It all worked well with the differences in time zone, and would be similar this time around. It was a long day, but such a good one.

How many clubs do you want to bankrupt by reducing the homes season by 3+ matches?

Ideally just Hartpury.

I think Hartpury will remain solvent long after a lot of others are bankrupt - whether you like it or not.
