I can't help you chaps-Port website reported new recruits and that is all I know. Same website reported Port's U16 SO turning out for Sale U18 but that just confirms the fact that young talented players are now being tracked closely by the big boys.

Lets see what happens Saturday.

The story fits in with the narrative, but I have no way of knowing if this is the truth. There are a handful of other players that have departed under similar circumstances this season, so you'd imagine there's some truth in there.

Would certainly make sense DD. It's something albeit at a lower level that Loo have had to do this season. We could have a stronger 1st team but have to play boys in the highly competitive 2nd team league. It's always going to upset some.

There are always going to be players that don't buy into what the club are planning, but I think it's going reap dividends in the future. Having a strong and competitive second and third team will ultimately mean more quality for the first team. It's certainly a more sustainable model than relying on players been brought in from elsewhere to bolster the firsts when we have players out with injuries or those hanging up their boots.

Are you both suggesting Waterloo and Chester have better players sometimes playing in their 2s than in their 1s and this is part of club selection policy?

Loo have had to bolster the 2nd team because of the strength of the league & still struggled in 80% of games. So yes, there are several players turning out for the Two's that could/should be playing 1st's. But as I've said before, the 2nd teams of Chester, fylde, sedge, caldy would probably be at the top of NW1.

Any feedback from the Loo Port game? One or two strange results again in this league.

Fair result Bigmal, Tough conditions but Loo the better side for majority of game. Twitchy bum time for last 10 when Loo 12 saw red, but the boys done good to see it out. Like our new no6 Canning, good in all area's & terrific attitude.

Cheers LF - still a few surprises to come I'll wager!

Interestingly I went to Cheltenham Saturday a very old club now competing at an even lower level than Loo/Port despite playing the All Blacks in 1908. I was shown round by the charming and knowledgeable Mr Wood who has done a great job collecting and preserving items reflecting the club's long history including team boards from c1899/1900. I never knew that "sub - captain" preceded vice-captain.

Anyone got any feedback from yesterday's game? Couldn't make it unfortunately but sounded like quite an abrasive affair

It's so close for 2nd place with 5 teams separated by 2pts, albeit with a few games in hand to be settled

Anyone seen the N1E? crazy close over there, 1st place on 59, 6th place on 54!

Exciting run in in both leagues, with only Vale of Lune looking nailed on for promotion at this point

The race for 2nd is arguably down to Warrington in 8th position. Vale are done and dusted & full credit to them. Northwich' game in hand is against Vale so have to play them twice. I would have taken a lbp before kickoff so happy with the results yesterday. The way Loo are playing ATM, they're well capable of putting another winning run together, but one game at a time starting with Rochdale on Saturday.

Great performance from Loo today. Good to see young Scrivens get a game - he looks a bit frightening doesn't he?

Sooooooooooooo many penalties again. Is this just our poor discipline or is it a sign of the refereeing at this level? Bit of both?

Thought we were pretty dominant in all areas today, Dale had their good spells as well & I can't believe they've only won 3 games. Crazy league.

Happy all round here, so many carrying options, scrivens is a unit all right. Dale looked pretty decent in the 2nd half.

Crazy league indeed - Port only played for 62 minutes up at St B and still got a bonus point. Still a way to go and second remains up for grabs.

Unfortunately Sten, your lads were quite poor today. Your alikadoos who joined us for lunch and a few post martch scoops were quite disappointed.
In all honesty, I expected Loo to win today. You’ve had a good run of results and we've been poor. However, you seemed determined to run the ball out of your 22 and when you discovered that wouldn’t work you failed to change the plan. As a result you rarely made it up to our 22, but scored when you did.
The result certainly helped with the joie de vivre at our Burnage Old Boys lunch/afternoon.

Well done Mike the usual balanced view from S Manchester. Results up and down again but I'm not sure that second place is anything other than a poisoned chalice nowadays given the resources needed higher up the tree.

Six teams lining up for a fist fight over 2nd place. It's gonna be an interesting finish. Back on the horse for our boys but congrats Burnage.
