Am I correct in saying that Sale like so many clubs "hoover" up talent at 16 the theory being that those with the necessary desire , physical attributes, resiliance and ability will eventually get there? It isn't the clubs job to sort out those who don't make it any more than professional football and rugby league clubs worry about those who don't make it. Interesting article in today's Guardian about Sam Tomkins which is relevant to this debate.

Pushy parents will always try and influence things but one thing to remember is that at 18 the vast majority of players need more time to develop physically, mentally and socially. Colts rugby initially helped to bridge this gap whilst the introduction of mini/junior rugby improved skill/fitness levels as well as engendering a sense of belonging.

What is missing nowadays is a place where "average" players can develop - this used to be 2nd/3rd teams in well organised clubs running 5 plus senior sides .

As a result clubs lose players and potential administrators as has been noted elsewhere.

must be a 1st on a Waterloo thread everybody agreeing on something. Its a great shame that the games losing players .Caldy keep a few who could leave due to the fact they are socially active and encourage the team bonding sessions .It's not all about rugby it's also a good social life .Ratboy is a original Raver and a backbone of the club's social side when his wife gives him a pass out and is a true Caldy man who plays for the love of the club.
was told ,at the end of 16/17 we will not see you next season but we will the one after .think not otley

Caldy must lose dozens!

You don’t have 500 juniors and only run two senior teams if they all stay.

And who mentioned Myerscough? Go and either get a proper education or an apprenticeship rather than studying GCSE Rugby. What’s that all about? Oh yeah the £4/5k per head these places get to fulfil a place

I enjoyed the game today, my first of the season and we won ... woohoo Waterloo

Some good young players on the pitch, but clearly a long way to go before we can think about moving up.

I can't really think of anything else to say, neutral day really.

Much changed team seemingly on the morning of the game, not sure why. Probably had a slightly disruptive effect on the flow but the lads did well and probably are regretting not securing the 4th try. Controlled the game for the majority although Broughton were explosive and looked dangerous on the break. Fair and good result I'd say.

Missing 7 regulars by my count, which shows me at least that we have a MUCH stronger squad than recent seasons

Unfortunately, looking through the Intermediate League results, couldn't manage to field a 3rd team

On the Anselmians point, how are things progressing with the new development?
Went past the other day and expected to see lots of activity, but couldn't see much progress.
Is work due to start soon?

The development is still stuck in legals but we're confident of a spade in the ground pre Xmas which will still see us in the new club at the beginning of 2019-20 season .
