The word used was oranges which in this instance means to insult .

I give up - the post was meant to refer to teams insulting each other without due cause. I cant believe that the word I used is no longer acceptable but there you go.

Fairly sure no one from Waterloo is even participating in the mud slinging - there was an Anselmians thread but that was locked and then deleted due to the two montys arguing about anything and everything with anyone who wanted a piece.

Nothing to do with Waterloo, so take it outside and let us crack on

Absolutely Sten, as always the clue is in the name. Just because you beat us on the pitch doesn't mean you can take our thread....

The game at Chester last night was a good advert for level 5/6 and 7 Rugby lots of local teams represented Hoylake Park Anselmians Waterloo Sunlight apologies if missed any one ! Big Crowd clubs represented officials watching their players play representative Rugby with pride I am sure a good night had by all . Good to touch base with lots of old friends both Cheshire and Lancashire ! The Chester facility is also very impressive and the Rugby on show of a high standard in spite of the bad conditions well done to all involved.

What is the selection criteria for these games? Is the sunlight/hoylake player better than the lymm, wirral, park anselmians player in that position? How does it work?

I can’t answer this other than to say that players from Blackburn, Broughton Park, Burnage and Rochdale weren’t considered as all were involved in Lancashire cup games.
Burnage lost to Blackburn in a close game. Rochdale beat Broughton Park. The final is in May.

I understand clubs were asked to put names forward ??? If they chose not to then it seems that was ok . I thought it was a good game and a good exercise. The players who played that I spoke to enjoyed the evening. Well done all.

It’s always good for players to play representative Rugby and if clubs did not allow their players to play it is very shortsighted . Let’s hope next game more clubs participate in allowing their players to take part.

Having spoken to someone involved from Lancs they opened the invitation to players from ANY Lancashire Club from Level 5 down in the RFU Leagues and in the Lancashire County League. They got nearly 60 nominations and had a trial at Liverpool St. Helens. then picked a Squad which went from Level 5 to technically Level 9 (Thornton Cleveleys weren't in the RFU Leagues last season but joined the new County League).

Blackburn, Burnage, Broughton Park did not nominate any players, Rochdale did but I'm told they didn't attend the trial............... think Cheshire followed the same modus operandi

It would now seem that both Lancs & Cheshire have started a ball moving with both of them due to play Anti-Assassins (Invitational XV usually of National League players) and a newly formed Community County side from Eastern Counties (EC Wanderers) before the end of the season.

I attended the game ,considering the weather was well attended .Nice pitch and facilities at Chester,1st time I have been since the upgrade.Great shame that more clubs never nominated players for the teams as it gave them a chance to gain a county honour and maybe learn something from different coaches
was told ,at the end of 16/17 we will not see you next season but we will the one after .think not otley

Is it a B squad for the county championships?

If so good. If not, what’s the point?

MB, the clue is "Community County Rugby", which means not National League level players. The point is there are vast amounts of players at Level 5 down who don't get any chance to represent their County after moving from Age Grade rugby to Senior Rugby. It's not all about the top 5% you know.

It gives the players to showcase their talent on a representative stage and either progress to main County or get the chance to better themselves as I said earlier there was a lot of talent on show it was a very good game in very difficult conditions. From Cheshire point of view one of senior County Coach was on the line talking to him after he liked what he saw.

No it’s a chance for players to play representative Rugby and to test themselves on a bigger stage many of the players acquitted themselves very well. I was there as an interested observer I liked what I saw . And with some help some of players playing could step up. I think most players given an opprtuinity would wish to better themselves .
