MikeGC, Davenport?? Another blast from the past. You must be one of the old school Mike. I can remember Hull & East Riding RUFC playing Davenport in the 1960s and 70s. They were famous for their sausage stew at one time. At least their supporters still support 'Port, even if it is Stockport!!

I don't remember the stew Yogi but I do remember playing Hull and ER certainly throughout the 70's - Middlesborough,Durham City, Percy Park, Wakefield ,Morley,Otley and Roundhay were all regular fixtures on the other side of the Pennines. To keep "on thread" Waterloo weren't on this side!

Scott Davidson makes a move from Waterloo to league rivals Northwich after one of Northwich's centres ruled out for the season.

Great Loo performance this afternoon. Tough contest in the 1st half, both sides playing pretty tight and almost neutralising each other, although I would say Loo just about edged it - it was 11-6 at HT.
Loo blew the cobwebs off 2nd half and Anselmians just sort of folded - Loo ran in 4 more tries for a full time of 37-6. Well deserved & much needed 5pts

Davenport were pretty poor today.
A clear (from the side line) advantage "up front" but insisted on going wide all the time. Schofield played no. 8 and was below average, despite his alleged £90k pay package. Stockport's talismanic 10 was injured within the first few minutes and I feel that might have been the deciding factor. That said we also had injuries to important players. With our small 1st XV squad, this could become an issue. |
