Hull had a 41-0 victory over Driffield in the semi-final at Kelleythorpe.
Good luck to Driffield in their chase to join the Northern Premier League from North East One.
They will now have a better idea of what awaits them if they succeed.

Big shock last night when Doncaster Phoenix beat Harrogate by 22-19 to reach the final
where they will meet Hull.  Former Hull player and now the Phoenix chairman, Scott Plevey,
 will be delighted.

I hope that all goes well at Clifton Park, here is the latest news on there website -

York RUFC will host this years Yorkshire Cup Final.

This years Yorkshire Cup Final between Harrogate and Doncaster Phoenix will be played at Clifton Park but at the moment there is a doubt as to when!!! Yorkshire RFU have to check following fixture congestion.

Nostalgia is not what it used to be.

  Tulip,

April 25th at Clifton Park, York. Is there a Yorkshire U20 game that night?

I might add that Hull play 3 games in 7 days that week. Rossendale (A) on the 21st,
Yorks Final on 25th and possibly a play-off game on the 28th.
We will know the if the play-off is a certainty by 16-30 hours tomorrow afternoon.
The play-off venue may take a little longer but if we beat KLon and Ross it will be at Hull.

The Midlands side could either be Peterborough Lions or Newport (Salop).

Hull RUFC are already preparing for next season, whether we achieve promotion or not
and our DOR will be doing the planning on the rugby side. He will be doing it within
a strict budget too. How much cash will the Hull Ionians DOR have at his disposal?

I would think both Clubs are making preparations for next season and neither Club would be inclined to publish next years rugby budget on this forum.
What I can say is that both Clubs determine their rugby budgets in a very different manner. After all, one Club has to budget for the upkeep of a magnificent facility, 4 senior teams, a Ladies team, a full compliment of Mini juniors etc etc whilst the other Club just finances a team.
I know which I would rather be involved with.

Tell me the the old old story (once again).
That is the trouble with your club, you don't seem to be able to budget.
What is the next piece of the family silver to be sold?
Continue to enjoy your ivory tower which you are so obviously pleased with.
Nothing would please me more than the status quo to continue.

Or, the true true story.
Your Club does not budget, your 2 main sponsors do all that.

You might enjoy the status quo but do your 2 main sponsors?
If everything is ok, it certainly makes you wonder why your 2 main sponsors want to join us.

Keep on telling the lies Pinochio, the deal is going nowhere and you (maybe) know it.
What I said about sending good money after bad has been made even clearer to me today.
The term "wouldn't touch it with a barge pole" springs to mind.
Remember what I said about champagne and lemonade.

I know exactly what is happening with the proposal your sponsors put to us.

What lies have been spoken? We budget to run 4 senior teams plus etc etc etc and you budget to run one team. That is true isn't it.

I admit that it is a strange state of affairs when board members of one Club are invited for merger talks by the 2 main sponsors of another club. Do you have any officials elected by your membership? If so, why have none of them been involved?

There has been a lot of rubbish spread around about this proposal, most of it emanating from certain parties at your Club. I am sure that when representatives of my Club speak again with your sponsors 'confidentiality' will be high on the list of requirements.

Including a few lies for good measure, also emanating from you.

You deny everything and provide no answers to anything put to you.

With regard to the proposal put to us by your sponsors, I have not shared any of the matters discussed. I will leave that to others who should know better. I have however confirmed who instigated the talks, namely your 2 main sponsors. That is fact (but I await your denial).

I think it is you who should worry about too many champagne shandys.

Its not all about who has the biggest "whatever" in Hull......
That result for Doncaster Phoenix was fantastic and the game was a credit to the competition.

I will certainly be going to the final to see how they get on against the city of Hull.

Sail By,
It was a fantastic result for the Phoenix.  Two of our people went to watch the semi-final as although we know all about Harrogate, having beat them at their ground and drew at ours, we knew little about the Phoenix.  Both came away very impressed with what they saw and as you say, it was a fantastic result for them.
And yet they were well beaten on Saturday, admittedly by a side that could well take the runners-up
spot in the Midlands division.  Should be a very good final if Phoenix turn on a repeat performance of their semi-final win.

Well beaten by a good side, but they did have 7 of the Yorkshire U20's resting for the semi final of the county cup yesterday.
